I love making a plan, even though people don’t always like that about me. I just LOVE making plans. As a coach, I absolutely embrace this strength in my coaching and it has become a gift to my clients. I have clients that are fantastic at dreaming and ideas, but they struggle with what’s the first step to starting it. Strategic has taught me that the way things happen is to take the first step. It helps me determine what the best first step is.
Once you have the first step the next step starts to appear.
Temple of Doom by Harrison Ford
His father was laying down and he was dying and Harrison Ford had to hit the holy grail for his father to have a chance to live. He went through this obstacle course that no one had survived, and it was intended so that no one could get to the place the holy grail was kept.
He made it through the obstacles, but when he got through them the worst obstacle was when he stood at this cliff, and there was this huge chasm between him and the holy grail. He saw with his eyes the distance between where he was and where his goal was.
He looked at it from a different perspective. He picked up dirt and threw it out and all of the sudden he was able to see the path before him.
It was an invisible path, but he had to have the courage to take the first step.
I always think about the first step
The first step is the most powerful step you’re going to take. You don’t know if its going to work or not, but once you take it all the sudden the next step appears.
That’s what my strategic strength is for me, it gets me to the holy grail. The most important thing for me to have as a coach is to help my clients take the first step. I do it by harnessing my strength of strategic.
